It greatly benefits all of those involved in the production of your garment all the way down the line to the farmer who grows the organic cotton or owns the alpaca herd, because you have chosen an organic or fairly traded garment.
On all of our jersey and denim pieces the cotton has been certified as 100% organic. When picked, the raw material you start with is already a premium product in comparison to intensively farmed cotton. All our jersey garments have been produced using innovative and certified ecological dyeing, printing and production methods and the disposal of by-products into the ecosystem is regulated, so flushing chemicals into the water supply is not an option. As well as this we have ensured that all aspects from the dyeing and finishing, to the poppers on our babywear are certified non-toxic. Therefore your choice is better for the environment and better for your baby’s and children’s skin.
Our knitwear is ethically crafted in Peru using sustainable raw materials, where the fair trade ethos greatly benefits both the farmers and the producers.
Our Ecological Credentials
1. Skal - a Dutch certifier, issues the Eko label which is widely used throughout Europe. Skal's aim is to offer certainty to the consumer that clothing with the Eko label really originates from an organic production process. All of our cotton jersey, produced in Turkey, has been certified as 100% organic cotton by Skal.
2. Dystar – under its Eco-confidence scheme - has cooperated with organisations such as Control Union Certifications, which licenses the Skal International Standard for Sustainable Textile Production, to get dyes and pigments approved for use on organic textiles. All of our jersey garments, including our woven labels, have been dyed using Dystar dyes.
3. Oko-Tex – an ecological certification process that tests for over 100 harmful chemicals. Our nickel free poppers, produced by YKK, are all Oko-Tex certified.
4. Recycling – all of our catalogues, swingers and postcards have been made from 100% recycled materials. All of our garments are carefully wrapped in 100% recycled tissue paper and packed in a gift box made of recycled, unbleached card. Our branded mailing bags are made from 95% recycled materials. All are fully recyclable.
